Fans of solo board games and deep strategy will soon be able to take the digital board game hybrid Dawnmaker on the go. The game, which was first released on PC in July 2024, is preparing for a mobile launch.
What is Dawnmaker?
Developed by Arpentor Studio, Dawnmaker is a turn-based, solo strategy game that effectively combines the mechanics of a city builder and a deckbuilder. It is designed to feel like playing a digital board game.
- The Premise: The world, known as the continent of Heksiga, has been covered by a toxic Smog. Your mission is to rekindle ancient, magical lighthouses to repel the Smog, reclaim the land, and bring light and life back to the world.
- The Core Loop: On a hex-based map, you construct buildings, optimize your deck of cards, and manage resources to improve your central lighthouse and expand your city limits.
Gameplay Highlights
The game focuses on creating powerful synergies and strategic city layouts:
- Build Efficient Cities: You must optimally position buildings within a limited space to maximize their output and create strong combinations with your cards.
- Deck Optimization: Gain increasingly powerful cards that interact with your buildings in various ways. The right card-and-building combos are key to generating a ton of resources.
- Resource Management: You’ll grow farms, build industries, and develop science to manage your resources and create the rarest resource, Éclairium, which is vital for repelling the Smog.
- Campaign Structure: The ultimate goal is to repair all the lighthouses across multiple regions, gradually pushing back the Smog and increasing the difficulty as you go.
Mobile Release Details
While an official, specific release date for the full mobile version has not yet been announced, the developers have confirmed its intent to release on iOS and Android. Mobile beta sign-ups have been open, indicating the port is actively moving toward its launch. The game is highly rated on its PC release and is a must-watch for any mobile strategy enthusiast!
