Getting Started: Your First Drop into the Island

Jump into the iconic battle bus and begin your Fortnite adventure!

• Download & Install: Fortnite is free to download and play on nearly every major platform: PC, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and mobile (Android via Epic Games App). Find it on your device’s store or Epic Games Launcher.
• Create Your Epic Games Account: You’ll need a free Epic Games account to play. This account saves your progress, V-Bucks, and cosmetics across all platforms.
• Choose Your Game Mode: From the lobby, select “Battle Royale.” You can choose from various modes:
  • Solo: Every player for themselves.
  • Duos: Team up with one friend.
  • Trios: Team up with two friends.
  • Squads: Team up with three friends.
  • Team Rumble: Larger teams for more casual, respawn-enabled combat.
• The Battle Bus: Once a match starts, you’ll be on the flying Battle Bus. Press the “Jump” button to parachute onto the island. Choose your landing spot wisely – popular areas (hot drops) have better loot but more enemies.
• Looting: Immediately upon landing, find weapons, shields, and healing items. Open chests (they glow and hum) for better gear. Look for floor loot too.
• Basic Movement & Building:
  • Movement: Standard controls (WASD on PC, joysticks on console/mobile) for moving, jumping, crouching, and sprinting.
  • Building: Learn to quickly switch to build mode and place walls, floors, ramps, and cones. Practice this in Creative mode!
• The Storm: A shrinking circle (the “Storm”) forces players closer together. Stay inside the safe zone, or you’ll take damage!
